Yarn Bombing

I have been wanting to mention a kind of guerrilla art movement called yarn bombing - pardon me while I get the giggles, but how awesome is that name? Unfortunately, I've been lazy and totally preoccupied with my sewing projects and jewelry business. So while I slacked, Unfinished Sewing Projects put together a great post describing the art of yarn bombing. While you're there, check out her other entries - it's a great blog!

The Yarn Bombing blog (yes, there is a blog for this) has some interesting photos and interviews. Imagine my surprise when I saw that the latest entry was a photo taken in Norfolk, VA - that's just across the bridge from me! But perhaps my favorite 'local' mention was the interview with K1D2, a Richmond, VA based yarn corps (I totally stole that term from here). With names like, 'Purl Scout' and 'Knitorious M.E.G.' who wouldn't want to join? Oh right, you need to know how to knit/ crochet. Hmm... I wonder if I have time to learn a new hobby...

  1. Thanks for the mention! I really appreciate it. So what is your first garment going to be? Can't wait to see it! :)

  2. Anytime - I really enjoy your blog. I am seriously considering trying to make a long wrap skirt. I figure I will use the measurements from one of mine and then go from there. This will be a long work in progress - no pun intended ;)
